Gilliland & Jud
When Bob and Lynne met, he was an organizational psychologist who for a decade had been conducting management and leadership workshops for NGOs. Lynne had spent 15 years at Catholic Relief Services (CRS) assuming overseas assignments of increasing importance and culminating in heading up the Regional Office for South Asia in their Baltimore headquarters.
Bob and Lynne worked together on several projects, including a special CRS project and quickly found that they share a deep interest in the mission and work of their NGO clients. They also realized that their complementary styles, skills, experiences and formal training would allow them to offer clients a blend of services — group training and individual coaching — that was comprehensive and unique.
When they tested their partnership in the marketplace, Bob and Lynne quickly discovered that their blend of services could readily and effectively address the needs of NGOs and there was a real need for their approach. Gilliland & Jud’s experience over the intervening years has confirmed the fact that Bob and Lynne’s talents dovetail effectively to supply the uniquely integrated services that clients have come to value.
In a typical assignment:
- Bob and Lynne begin by using a variety of diagnostic tools and techniques described elsewhere in this Web site to define with precision what performance issues they are being asked to address.
- Then, using their years of experience working on scores of organizational issues, they design and present a solution that addresses the special needs expressed by the client. Bob and Lynne have learned that even the introduction of “standard” workshops always requires some tailoring to a client’s needs.
- They always commence work on a project by supplying complete information to the client upfront on all aspects of the assignment, especially regarding content, timing and costs.
- Bob then takes the lead on matters of training and leadership, while Lynne takes the lead on issues of coaching, teaming, and group processes. Many assignments will only require the skill of one or the other, but often they work together when an assignment is sufficiently complex to warrant bringing both partners into play.
Given the ad hoc nature of the current international NGO environment, Gillliland & Jud is committed more than ever to providing comprehensive, quickly implemented solutions that have lasting results for organizations on whom so many people depend for help.
